Review of 7 in 1 Field Survival Whistle

In our recent announcement we mentioned that we are now working with

This new partnership should allow us to bring new content to the site at a faster rate and we are excited about this opportunity. What this means for you is FREE gear and other cool stuff. I have seen several of the things they plan on offering and advertising through this site and I must say, I’m excited!

First up is this 7 in 1 Survival Whistle. I had the chance to look this one over pretty good and have some on order for myself. In the meantime I found this video that does an excellent job of explaining the good and the bad.

Masumi Childers does an excellent job showing us how this whistle actually works and what the weak points are.

For me I know I will love to stick this in my bag, but I won’t rely on it to save my life. But come on I have a good compass and thermostat, I know how to use my fingers to whistle. Although I found I can’t do it long without my lips cracking, there are still some good reasons to keep this little tool around.

  1. You can blow much longer than you can yell (got that from Sumi)
  2. Think of it as a simple backup not as your go to
  3. It’s super inexpensive but doesn’t feel as cheap as you would think (it is quality enough for the price)

I plan on posting more once I get mine in but for a start I’d say that is pretty good and should get you far. If you have suggestions let me know –> Leave a comment below

By the way. I don’t think they did a good job of telling people but there is a little end of purchase bonus. You can get their brand of filter straw as I’m writing this I can’t remember what it is called but I’m including a picture. To see everything click this link:
